Inner Harbor

boats float in the harbor
like notes in an improvisation
moored by a melody
more remembered than apparent
moved by a pattern of waves
constructed through the convergence
of the ripples of raindrops
their impacts providing the percussion
with the deeper rhythm of tides
there is no randomness
just a formulation beyond comprehension
unity is an accumulation
of a tangle of individual chances
twisted fibers of experience
the fabric of awareness
for the audience of perception
meaning is the emotion
composed in the moment
when the eye of the sea bird
meets the eye of the fish
as seen by the sailor
while standing in the rain
on a boat in the harbor
