Thanks-Giving / Thanksgiving

Thanks-Giving

"I hear the crowd."

Just like every year out there.

"Hey- button up your coat!

Chilly, in the damp fall air."

So good to see you.

It's been far too long.

You're just like I remember,

So tall, so strong.

You take my hand, then we run -

To find the perfect place.

But I can see the game from here,

I only want to see your face.

I can't stop smiling now.

You make me feel this way.

I forget I shouldn't be here.

For a minute - the pain goes away.

As you put your arm around me,

I never want to go.

Safer here than home.

A sad truth, we both know.

The time has passed -

It feels too late.

Changing lanes now -

would change our fate.

Parades home on the TV

The family waiting for dinner.

Touchdown!!! - they screamed!

I couldn't care less, who's the winner.

I'm winning right now,

Just being here with you.

For an hour, day or minute-

A truth I always knew;

Back when the path was unsure,

A path we could have tried.

More days should have been like this,

With a future on our side.

But time has passed,

and our courses are set.

We have this day - and I'll never forget;

A time when all was possible and nothing was to fear.

Maybe I'll see you some time again? - same time next year?
