My apartment, my home, my address, my pad, my sanctuary.

It’s not much, but it’s mine, peeling paint and all.  It’s where I live, breathe, eat, shower, sleep.

The door sticks if you don’t pull it shut, but I do pull it, every time I go in or out.  I know this door, and it knows me.

The shutters rattle in the wind, and sometimes they fly open, but I know how to make them secure.  They muffle the traffic sounds, so I can sleep.

My bicycle, my wheels, my ride, my freedom, my rush of air in my hair as I pedal hard.

It’s not much, but it’s mine, it takes me where I want to go, and it brings me home again.  It carries my groceries, new sneakers, and food for my cat.

I leave it out front, hoping nobody takes it, but no one ever does.  They know it’s mine, and they leave it alone.

I was born here, I have stayed here, and I will spend my life here.  This is my home, my world, my life.  It’s not much, but it’s mine.  It’s all I have, but it’s all I need.

About the Creators

Eliot Mason

Eliot Mason is a photographer from Rutland, Vermont. He is currently in his senior year at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Massachusetts. His BFA capstone project explores the evolving relationship between technology, convenience, and self-questioning how contemporary life shapes personal identity and experience. Through atmospheric landscapes and portraiture, his work blends classic visual aesthetics with modern themes. He often shoots on film, including expired stock and traditional black and white, to emphasize texture and color to evoke nostalgia and a sense of time passed. This work is balanced with the use of digital photography for his commercial-oriented work. While his ideas and techniques continue to grow and shift as a student, one thing remains constant: his deep love for photography.

Paula Stephens

Paula Stephens is a Cape Ann native with a passion for the wonders of nature. While her portfolio includes scenes from Nova Scotia, Arizona, California, Pennsylvania, Virginia, the deep south and the Gulf Coast,  she is most inspired by the beauty and splendor found here in New England, sometimes right in my own back yard. She has also branched out into other areas, such as macro, still life, and working with miniatures. Stephens’ work has been shown in various art shows and galleries on the North Shore and has been featured on the cover of Artscope Magazine.
