Birth of Apollo

Photographic Digital Art

APOLLO

Apollo rose to a marigold sun

After twin sister, Artemis

Born on barren isle of Delo

Both of Leto and Zeus

Zeus’s wife, Hera, fumed

Apollo’s birth, nine days

And nights later, she’d kidnapped

goddess of Childbirth, Eileithyia

Apollo became a god of crops

Healing and prophecy

Slayed Cyclopes, armorers of Zeus

In Delphi slew Python, a serpent

Created Oracle of Delphi

Whose cult spread

Spoken by Pythia, a woman

Achieving Panhellenic stature

Unfortunate in love

Daphne tried to escape him

Apollo changed Daphne

Into a sacred shrub of laurel

Apollo, revered in Italy,

By the Emperor Augustus

Who later claimed himself

Son of Apollo, the god.

Meet the Creators

Linda Davis

Since an early age Linda has been centered on the creative process. Starting in the fine arts arena (painting, photography) over time her creativity was in professional life as a goldsmith and an acupuncturist. This breadth of life experience contributes to her present vision. Although it's been an off and on engagement with photography for over 50 years, she's recently found new inspiration integrating diverse perspectives with new tools and technology. Her images evoke stories and states deep within each of us, not easily accessed through language. As without, so within!

Carol Bistrong

Carol works primarily in oils.  Has been involved in art for 30 years.  Member of several art organizations. Paints landscapes, seascapes and whatever catches her fancy.  Also writes poetry.
