About the Creators

Linda Scollins

Linda Scollins is a retired teacher who spent over 35 years teaching first (8 years) and second grade. She has twice been nominated by parents for Mass. Teacher of the Year, the second time being a Finalist. Her school secretary, nurse and other teacher first inspired her to take a night class in hand quilting, then she purchased a book of quilt squares on a Maine trip and then jumped into creating a king size quilt for an auction benefiting her son's school, The Roxbury Latin School. Every spare minute after school and all vacation time during February and April vacations finally produced a finished quilt with over 1000 pieces. "Never again" she said, but when the quilt sold for $750.00 she had second thoughts. Neighbors who saw her quilt work suggested she come with them to a quilt show by The Proper Bostonian Quilt Guild which she quickly joined and became an avid quilter ever since. The distance from Ipswich meant giving up her Guild membership, which broke her heart, but she was immediately enveloped into the vibrant Art Community in Ipswich. Her first month here she displayed at the Town Hall Art Show and next year she first participated with husband, Tim, in The Verse-Visual Exhibition which she loves!

In 2024 Linda and Tim had their own exhibition of quilts and photography at The Hall-Haskell House in Ipswich.
